Early American folk pottery, including the history of Bennington pottery
A collector's survey of American folk pottery and the Bennington works, compiled by Hartford collector Albert Hastings Pitkin and published posthumously by his wife Sarah in 1918 for ceramics collectors and museums. Halftone photographs isolate jugs, jars and pitchers against plain grounds, showing relief hunting scenes, mottled Rockingham glaze and salt-glazed stoneware surfaces useful as vessel silhouettes and mottled textures.
