Early silver of Connecticut and its makers

Curtis, George M. (George Munson), 1857-1915 · 1913 · Meriden, Conn., International Silver Co. · 73 pictures

A survey of Connecticut silversmiths and their surviving work, compiled by George Munson Curtis and published by the International Silver Company in Meriden in 1913 for collectors, antiquarians, and the silver trade. Halftone photographs of tankards, porringers, cups, and creamers sit alongside small line-cut profiles of vessels and engraved maker's marks, giving designers clean silhouettes of colonial hollowware, handle and thumbpiece shapes, and touchmark lettering.
