Early typography
A history of printing's first century written and published by William Skeen, a government printer in Colombo, Ceylon, in 1872, addressed to printers and bibliographers. Wood-engraved plates show wooden hand presses in perspective and elevation, hatched with dense parallel line shading, alongside outline copies of early figure drawings and a blackletter title page.
