Egyptian magic
E. A. Wallis Budge's 1899 study of Egyptian amulets, spells and funerary rites, published in London by Kegan Paul for British readers following museum Egyptology. Line redrawings copy papyrus vignettes and stelae: mummies on biers, Anubis, winged sun discs, offering processions, boats and obelisks, all set in dense hieroglyph blocks and register frames useful as flat silhouettes, borders and pattern fields.
