The eighteen nineties; a review of art and ideas at the close of the nineteenth century
Holbrook Jackson's critical survey of British art, literature and periodical culture of the 1890s, published by Alfred A. Knopf in New York in 1922 for literary readers and collectors. The plates reproduce work by Beardsley, Phil May, Conder and their contemporaries: pen-line grotesques with ribbon-and-garland borders, lithographic caricatures of men in evening dress, and soft-toned pastoral figure groups.
