Electrical world
Electrical World was a New York trade weekly begun in 1883, published by McGraw-Hill for electrical engineers, manufacturers and station operators. Alongside apparatus diagrams it carried halftone plates of history paintings, such as William Gilbert showing magnetic experiments to Elizabeth I and her court, offering tonal interior scenes, Elizabethan dress and grouped standing and seated figures.
