Elements of astronomy ... with explanatory notes, and questions for examination
A school astronomy textbook by John Brocklesby, published in New York in 1855 with explanatory notes and examination questions for classroom use. Its wood-engraved figures are white-line diagrams on dense black sky: ringed globes tilted around a rayed sun, labelled with months, zodiac names and cardinal points, useful as ready-made orbital charts, celestial lettering and high-contrast astronomical motifs.
