The elements of astronomy
An introductory astronomy textbook by the Irish astronomer Robert Stawell Ball, published by Macmillan in New York in 1900 for school and early college students. The pages scanned here are letterpress text rather than plates: numbered sections with bold run-in headings, small-caps chapter titles, and measurements set in running prose, useful as specimens of turn-of-the-century scientific typesetting and for cropped type textures.
