The elements of drawing in three letters to beginners
John Ruskin's 1898 New York and London edition of his instructional letters on drawing, written for amateurs and self-taught students learning to observe and render natural form. The plates are pen-and-ink studies of branches, foliage masses and leaf clusters in solid black line on toned paper, useful as botanical spot art, silhouette borders, or models of hatching and branch structure.
