Elton's comic all-my-nack 1842
A comic almanac issued by Elton of New York for 1842, sold cheaply to general American readers as a parody of the household almanac, with stereotyped wood-engraved cartoons. The cuts show crude, big-headed figures in top hats and bonnets tumbling on ice, quarrelling, and haggling at auction, with hatched skies and sketchy landscapes useful for caricature faces and slapstick poses.
