Emblemas morales de Don Sebastian de Couarrubias Orozco, capellan del rey N.S. Maestrescuela, y canonigo de Cuenca, consultor del santo oficio
A Spanish emblem book by Sebastián de Covarrubias Orozco, printed in Madrid by Luis Sánchez in 1610 and dedicated to the Duke of Lerma, aimed at educated courtly readers who read pictures as moral lessons. Alongside the circular emblem woodcuts run narrow headpiece strips of confronted lions, grotesque beasts and scrolling foliage, coarsely cut and useful as rules, borders and chapter dividers.
