A Latin emblem book on the use and abuse of worldly things, compiled from Bernard Furmerius by Richardus Lubbaeus and printed at Arnhem in 1609 by Jan Janszoon for learned Netherlandish readers, with engravings in the manner of Coornhert and Jan Wierix. Each square plate, numbered and labelled with a vice or virtue, sets nude and half-draped allegorical figures against houses, porticoes and open country in fine cross-hatching: usable as compact moral vignettes, figure studies and background architecture.
