Emblemata v. cl. Andreae Alciati : cū imaginibus plerisque restitutis ad mentem auctoris
Andrea Alciati's emblem book, first issued 1531 and here reprinted at Padua in 1618 by Pietro Paolo Tozzi with commentary by Claude Mignault and Lorenzo Pignoria, for humanist readers of Latin mottoes and morals. The 299 small square woodcuts set single figures, gods, animals and armoured men in sparse landscapes with hatched skies, drawn in coarse black line usable as spot vignettes.
