An emblem book of one hundred plant devices compiled by the Nuremberg physician and botanist Joachim Camerarius, engraved by Johann Siebmacher and printed at Nuremberg in 1590 for learned readers of emblem literature. Each plant sits in a beaded roundel with a small landscape behind it, fine-lined and even in tone; woodcut initials carry white-line foliage on hatched grounds.
