Embroidery and fancy work, containing directions for embroidering, painting, modelling, carving, etc
A late-Victorian needlework manual issued by Belford, Clarke & Co. in Chicago in 1899, giving home workers instructions for embroidery, crochet, macramé, painting, modelling and carving. The engraved plates render stitched samples close up in dense black line: looped crochet edgings, knotted macramé panels with tassels, and repeating open lattices usable as borders, pattern fills and textured rules.
