Empresas morales
A Spanish emblem book by the diplomat Juan de Borja, printed at Prague by Jorge Nigrin in 1581, with plates credited to the goldsmith-designer Erasmus Hornick, addressed to courtly readers studying moral conduct through mottoes and devices. Each page pairs a Latin motto in a strapwork cartouche with an emblem below; alongside are cast fleuron tailpieces and knotwork ornaments useful as frames, rules and borders.
