A pattern reference of 1842, drawn and engraved by Henry Shaw and published by William Pickering in London for architects, carvers and decorative painters. Plates are fine outline engravings of borders, panels, capitals and foliate scrollwork copied from medieval and Renaissance carving, metalwork and manuscripts, giving designers repeatable strip ornament and framed panel motifs in clean line.
