English caricaturists and graphic humourists of the nineteeth century : How they illustrated and interpreted their times
Graham Everitt's 1886 survey of nineteenth-century English caricature, published in London by Sonnenschein, Le Bas & Lowrey for collectors and readers of comic art, reproducing work by Cruikshank, Leech, Phiz and their contemporaries. Plates are pen-and-etching line reproductions: crowded tavern and street scenes, hand-lettered captions and speech scrolls, exaggerated faces and top-hatted figures useful as line-art figure stock and lettering models.
