English costume
Dion Clayton Calthrop's English Costume, published in London by A. and C. Black in 1906, surveys dress in England reign by reign for artists, designers and theatrical costumers. Plates mix reproduced Wenceslaus Hollar etchings of seventeenth-century women in full skirts, fur muffs and tall hats with Calthrop's own line drawings of doublets, hose and headgear, useful as silhouette and detail reference.
