Epigraphia carnatica. By B. Lewis Rice, Director of Archaeological Researches in Mysore
A volume of Epigraphia Carnatica, the survey of Kannada stone and copper-plate inscriptions compiled by B. Lewis Rice for the Mysore Department of Archaeology and printed at the Mysore Government Central Press in Bangalore in 1894, for epigraphists and colonial administrators. The plates are photographic facsimiles of inscribed slabs, showing dense rows of rounded old Kannada letters in white on mottled granite, with chipped edges and uneven stone surfaces that read as texture, pattern fields, and ready-made lettering reference.
