A volume of Epigraphia Carnatica, the Mysore Archaeological Department's corpus of South Indian inscriptions edited by B. Lewis Rice and printed at the Mysore Government Central Press in Bangalore in 1894 for epigraphists and colonial administrators. The plates are photographic facsimiles of stone slabs and copper-plate grants, white Kannada letters packed line by line against black grounds, with rivet holes, ring lugs and a small seal showing an elephant emblem; useful for dense non-Latin lettering textures, high-contrast negative type, and eroded stone surfaces.
