Essay on the origin, history, and principles, of Gothic architecture

Hall, James, Sir, 1761-1832 · 1813 · London : Printed by W. Bulmer and Co., for John Murray, J. Taylor, and W. Blackwood · 83 pictures

A 1813 London treatise by the Scottish geologist Sir James Hall, arguing that Gothic forms derive from bundled rods and wickerwork, printed by Bulmer for Murray and Taylor and aimed at antiquaries and architects. The plates are fine outline engravings of window tracery, pointed arches, vaulting ribs, cusped foliation and panelled wall surfaces, mostly unshaded line on cream paper, useful as clean vector-ready ornament, arch geometry and repeating panel patterns.
