Essentials in art
Osvald Sirén's 1920 art-historical study, published in London and New York by John Lane, collects his essays on Donatello, Parri Spinelli and religious art for scholars and students of the Italian Renaissance. Halftone plates reproduce marble and bronze sculpture, carved tomb architecture, foliate relief panels and faded frescoes, offering drapery studies, angel figures and heavy grey-toned textures for collage.
