The etcher's handbook : giving an account ot the old processes, and of processes recently discovered ; illustrated by the author

Hamerton, Philip Gilbert, 1834-1894 · 1912 · London : C. Roberson · 19 pictures

A technical manual on etching processes, old and newly discovered, written and illustrated by Philip Gilbert Hamerton and issued in London by the colourmakers C. Roberson in 1912 for practising artists and printmakers. The cuts are small line engravings of workshop apparatus — a tilting etching table with acid cup, a hinged plate box, a hanging grounded plate, bare rectangular plate outlines — built from dense parallel hatching that designers can mine for equipment silhouettes and ruled tonal texture.
