Etching and other graphic arts : an illustrated treatise
George Taylor Plowman, an American architect turned etcher, wrote this 1922 technical treatise for Dodd, Mead to teach students and collectors how etchings, drypoints and engravings are made and judged. The plates reproduce small landscape and townscape prints — canal fronts, bridges with foot traffic, tree-lined embankments, timbered mills — built from fine hatching, dry needle scratches and reserved white paper, alongside diagrams of tools and press.
