An emblem book of moral lessons drawn from nature, issued at Nuremberg around 1700 by print publisher Johann Christoph Weigel with plates etched by Jan and Caspar Luyken, for readers of devotional and didactic emblem literature. The small horizontal copperplates put one or two robed figures in open country, with ruled hatched skies, distant walled towns, travellers and grazing horses — useful for gesture studies, figure silhouettes and engraved landscape backgrounds.
