Eugene Carriere : l'homme et l'artiste
A study of the painter Eugène Carrière written by the philosopher Gabriel Séailles and issued in Paris by Édouard Pelletan in 1901 for French readers of art criticism and print collectors. The plates reproduce Carrière's drawings in a single sanguine-orange ink on cream paper: mothers holding sleeping infants, children's heads, and standing draped women built from long parallel strokes that fade into blank ground, useful for monochrome line textures and soft-edged figure vignettes.
