Evenings at the microscope : or, Researches among the minuter organs and forms of animal life
A popular microscopy handbook by naturalist Philip Henry Gosse, issued in London by the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge in 1884 for amateurs working at their own instruments. The 108 line engravings show magnified anatomy — bivalve gills, ciliated mouthparts, scales, hairs and sections of skin — drawn in fine open hatching and stipple on cream paper, usable as isolated organic motifs.
