The evolution of culture, and other essays
A collection of anthropological essays by Augustus Pitt-Rivers, edited posthumously by John Linton Myres and Henry Balfour and published by the Clarendon Press at Oxford in 1906 for archaeologists and museum students. The plates are numbered outline drawings of clubs, spears, boomerangs, paddles and chipped stone blades, laid out in graded rows that run from simple to elaborate forms, useful as silhouette stock, typological grids and repeatable ornament borrowed from carved hafts and barbs.
