Examples of bookbinding executed by Robt. Rivière & Son : exhibited at the Leipzig Exhibition in 1914 for a few weeks prior to the Great War on the outbreak of which they were placed in the cellars of the Leipzig Museum, where they remained for five years
A trade portfolio issued in 1920 by the London binders Robt. Rivière & Son, recording leather bindings they showed at the 1914 Leipzig Exhibition, aimed at collectors and the book trade. The plates are frontal photographs of tooled covers and spines: interlaced strapwork, dense dotted grounds, monogram cartouches, grapevine and rose borders, useful as ready-made frames, centrepieces and repeating panel ornament.
