Examples of English medieval foliage and coloured decoration, taken from buildings of the twelfth to the fifteenth century: with descriptive letterpress
James Kellaway Colling's 1874 London survey of English medieval carved foliage and painted decoration, drawn from twelfth- to fifteenth-century churches and published by the author for architects, carvers and decorative draughtsmen. Line engravings record capitals, bosses, spandrels and crockets in close detail, with hatched shading that models undercut stone leafwork; useful for acanthus and stiff-leaf motifs, beaded mouldings and scrolling curves.
