Examples of English mediaeval foliage and coloured decoration, taken from buildings of the twelfth to the fifteenth century: with descriptive letterpress
A measured survey of carved foliage and painted ornament from English churches of the twelfth to fifteenth centuries, drawn and published by architect James Kellaway Colling in London in 1874 for architects, carvers and decorative painters. Plates combine outlined running borders and diaper patterns with heavily shaded studies of capitals, bosses and crockets, giving usable repeat motifs and three-dimensional leaf forms.
