Exhibition of American art : June 9th to 5th July, Galerie de la Chambre syndicale des beaux-arts
An exhibition catalogue for a show of contemporary American painting held in Paris in June 1920, organized by Art Patrons of America with the Chambre syndicale des beaux-arts and printed by Ateliers Stella for collectors and the French art trade. The 37 halftone plates reproduce oil paintings in coarse gray tones: brushy portraits in wide hats, cattle and herders, a stage scene lit by a hard beam. Useful for painterly grayscale texture and loose figure silhouettes.
