Exhibition of contemporary American paintings owned in Worcester County: from April fifth to May tenth, nineteen hundred and fourteen.
An exhibition catalogue issued by the Worcester Art Museum in 1914 for a spring loan show of contemporary American paintings held in Worcester County collections, addressed to local lenders and museum visitors. The plates are halftone reproductions of oil paintings: seated society portraits in wide hats, a child's head against a dark ground, wooded riverbanks and hazy valley landscapes, all rendered in soft grey tonal gradations useful for muted portrait and landscape stock.
