Exhibition catalogue of French modern art — paintings, sculpture, etchings and applied art — assembled by Léonce Bénédite for the French Ministry of Public Instruction and Fine Arts in 1919, aimed at foreign audiences and buyers after the war. The 24 halftone plates reproduce paintings in soft grey tonal ranges: wind-bent trees on a cliff, figures seated in dappled garden shade, a woman bending beneath a hanging cloth, giving designers washed monochrome atmosphere, silhouetted foliage, and loose figure groupings.
