Experiments in aerodynamics
Samuel Pierpont Langley's 1891 research report for the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, recording his whirling-table experiments on air resistance and lift for physicists and early aeronautical engineers. The plates are engineer's line drawings — plan, elevation and section views of the whirling table, recording cylinder, rolling carriage, cone drives and shafting — with fine dotted construction lines, hairline hatching and lettered callouts useful as technical-diagram texture.
