Experiments and observations on electricity : made at Philadelphia in America
Franklin's collected letters to Peter Collinson on electrical experiments, printed and sold by E. Cave in London in 1751 for natural philosophers and Royal Society readers, with plates engraved by Thomas Jefferys. The index holds the volume's letterpress furniture rather than its diagrams: a grotesque headpiece band of urns, scrolling foliage and squatting figures, repeated flower-basket blocks, and heavy inked initials, usable as period rules, spot ornaments and drop caps.
