Experiments on engine balancing with a special model
A 1907 University of Illinois engineering thesis by Walter Edmund Barton on balancing marine engine models, submitted as student coursework and held in manuscript-like form with hand-inked plates. The drawings pair machine elevations and sections of multi-cylinder engines with crank-angle circles and labelled force and couple polygons, hand-lettered on toned paper — useful for diagram linework, dashed vector figures, and annotated technical layouts.
