Explication des ouvrages de peinture et dessins, sculpture, architecture et gravure, des artistes vivans
The annual Paris Salon catalogue of works by living artists, issued by the Société des artistes français and its predecessors from the seventeenth century onward and listing paintings, sculpture, architecture, and engraving for exhibition visitors. The pages here are mostly typographic — dense small-type name lists, hatched gallery floor plans, and trade advertisements with medal cartouches, an anchor-and-monogram emblem, and a shaded wood-engraved Fichet strongbox showing its numbered interior compartments.
