Eyelet embroidery and its future possibilities
An instruction and pattern booklet on eyelet embroidery issued in 1905 by the silk thread manufacturer M. Heminway & Sons of New York and Philadelphia, aimed at home needleworkers and buyers of its threads. Halftone photographs show finished collars, cuffs, handkerchiefs and round doilies against dark grounds, with scalloped edges, punched eyelet dots, small flower rosettes and trailing leaf sprays that read as high-contrast white-on-black ornament usable as borders, corner motifs and radial rosettes.
