Fac simile of an ancient heraldic manuscript
A facsimile of Sir David Lindsay's sixteenth-century Scottish armorial, engraved and hand-coloured by W. H. Lizars and issued in Edinburgh in 1822 for antiquaries and heralds. The 388 plates are single shields in flat red, blue, black and cream, with quartered fields, bends, chevrons, chequered bands, rampant lions and coronets above, useful as crisp two-colour emblem shapes.
