A Latin emblem book printed by Lucas Straub in Munich in 1662, produced by the Jesuit College there to mark the birth of Maximilian II Emanuel, son of Elector Ferdinand Maria and Henriette Adelaide, with engravings by Bartholomäus Kilian. The plates here are woodcut initial letters set in dense foliate scrollwork, useful as drop caps, ornament fragments, and hatched leaf-and-tendril patterns.
