Famous cathedrals as seen and described by great writers

Singleton, Esther, d. 1930 · 1909 · New York : Dodd, Mead & company · 45 pictures

An anthology compiled by Esther Singleton, published in New York by Dodd, Mead in 1909, gathering descriptions of European cathedrals by well-known writers for general American readers and travellers. The plates are halftone reproductions of photographs showing Gothic west fronts, spires, flying buttresses and apse roofs seen across squares and riversides, useful for architectural silhouettes, tracery and window patterns, and grainy period street views with carts and figures.
