Famous sculpture as seen and described by great writers
An anthology of writings on sculpture compiled by Esther Singleton, published by Dodd, Mead in New York in 1910 for general readers and students of art. Forty-seven halftone plates reproduce classical and Renaissance statues — Laocoön, the Nile, sleeping Ariadne, pediment groups — as pale marble figures against black grounds, useful for cut-out silhouettes, drapery studies and figure poses.
