The field day and play picnic for country children
A 1908 pamphlet by Myron T. Scudder and Anna M. Morgan, issued by the Charities Publication Committee in New York to guide rural teachers and organizers in staging school field days and play picnics. The plates are grainy halftone photographs of children in white dresses ranged across open fields, farmhouses and trees on the horizon, and spectators lining dirt roads, with terse capital-letter captions beneath; useful for soft-edged crowd silhouettes, wide horizon bands, and period caption typography.
