Illustrated catalogue of the fifth series of 100 paintings by old masters of the Dutch, Flemish, Italian, French, and English schools : being a portion of the Sedelmeyer Gallery which contains about 1500 original pictures by ancient and modern artists
A dealer's illustrated sale catalogue issued by the Sedelmeyer Gallery in Paris in 1899, listing 100 old master paintings of the Dutch, Flemish, Italian, French and English schools for collectors and the art trade. The plates are soft halftone reproductions of oil paintings, mostly half-length portraits in dark tonal grounds with lace caps, white chemises and patterned silk sleeves catching the light, useful as period costume reference and as ready-made vignette portraits with heavy shadow around the figure.
