Fifty glimpses of Toronto and vicinity, from recent photographs
A souvenir view-book of fifty halftone photographs of Toronto, published by McLeod & Simpson in 1901 for residents and visitors buying city views. The plates show university buildings, churches, civic halls and large private houses in Romanesque and Second Empire styles, shot from across empty streets and lawns, with bare trees, wide sidewalks and pale flat skies giving usable grey-scale backdrops and silhouetted rooflines.
