Fifty paintings by George Inness
A privately printed 1913 portfolio reproducing fifty landscape paintings by the American tonalist George Inness, issued in a limited edition for collectors and subscribers. The plates are sepia halftones in which trees, banks and horizons dissolve into grainy dark masses against pale glowing skies and water, useful for soft-edged silhouettes, duotone backgrounds and heavily textured atmospheric fields.
