Fine books
Alfred W. Pollard's 1912 survey of early printing and book illustration, issued by Methuen in London for collectors and students of the fifteenth- and sixteenth-century book. Plates reproduce woodcuts and engravings from incunabula and early presses: Terence stage scenes with named columns, arrest-of-Christ crowds bristling with pikes, kneeling donor presentations, and borders of saints in compartment frames.
