Firenze antica, e moderna illustrata
A multi-volume topographical history of Florence compiled by Vincenzio Follini and Modesto Rastrelli, printed in the city between 1789 and 1802 for antiquarian and art-minded readers, later held in the library of Count Antonio Cavagna Sangiuliani. The indexed images are the binding's marbled endpapers: combed and drawn feather patterns in brick red, black, ochre and pale blue, useful as tiling backgrounds, cover papers, or sources of swirled organic texture.
